The ‘Ffos-Y-Fran Reclamation Scheme’ is how Miller Argent refer to the extraction of over 10 million tonnes of coal by open cast mining above the town of Merthyr Tydfil.  Calling the pit a ‘land reclamation scheme’ means that the law keeping a mine at least 1000m from the nearest home can be ignored.
